Can UV Curing Work in Cold Weather?
Yes, but the curing effect will be somewhat affected.
Why Doesn’t UV Curing Depend on Temperature?
UV curing is a photochemical reaction that achieves rapid curing by activating photoinitiators in the material with UV light, rather than relying on heat as in traditional methods. Therefore, UV curing lamps can still function normally even in low-temperature environments.
What are the effects of low temperatures?
In low-temperature environments, common issues include: Longer curing times. UV adhesives/UV fillers become thicker, resulting in reduced flowability. The surface cures but the interior does not fully cure.
How to Improve Curing Results in Low-Temperature Environments?
To achieve better curing results, we recommend: Preheating the material to room temperature (approximately 20°C). Extending the exposure time appropriately. Using a high-intensity UV LED curing lamp. Selecting the appropriate wavelength (365 nm / 395 nm) based on the material.
UV curing remains effective in cold environments, but the application method needs to be optimized. Choosing a stable, high-intensity UV curing lamp can significantly improve results.
We at Shenzhen Super-curing Opto-Electronic Co., Ltd. provide high-performance UV LED curing lamps for the automotive repair, UV adhesive, and printing industries.
